Listen to paintings.
This project was an augmented reality app for the stairwell in Concordia’s JMSB building. The stairwell features paintings by Lori Nix on each of its floors. The application is an augmented experience of viewing the works through a mix of video and spatialized sound.
I extensively cleaned and reorganized existing code, implemented green-screen video shaders for augmented reality, and designed a spatialized sound-walk system using paintings as fiducials. Demoed to JMSB’s Director of Sustainability, May 2014.
Additionally, I documented the platform for future employees, including a few helpful sketches like the one to the left, which describes the spatialized sound system. System was built with OpenAL.
Position: Assistant programmer.
